Financial Analyst
Shahela Perveen’s job portfolio acts as a contact for research, licensing, and patent related operations with emphasis placed on supporting agreements and their financial accounts across all departments. This includes providing necessary assistance to other departments, asset recovery, and customer relationship management. In this capacity, she is responsible for the monthly close and year-end process, in collaboration with the business manager, ensuring compliance with NYU policies and procedures. She is responsible for monitoring all accounting systems, including the Technology Opportunities & Ventures database, Sophia, WSQ financial systems, i-Buy, PeopleSoft financials, and PaymentWorks. Perveen also works with the intellectual property group as a liaison between law firms, licensees, and principal investigators to ensure the seamless progress of patent applications as well as the issuance of said patents. She works with the finance departments from both NYU Grossman School of Medicine and NYU Washington Square on accounting issues for research, license, royalty, patent expense, and other financials, in collaboration with the Sponsored Programs Administration, Research Finance Operation, and Finance Data Governance. She also assists with projections, forecasts, budgets, reporting, and special projects. This includes generating, analyzing, and distributing a variety of reports and analyses which are vital to decision-making processes for both senior leadership and management.
