February 26, 2026
In this monthly Industry Insights on Research and Innovation Seminar (IIRIS) series, presented by Technology Opportunities & Ventures (TOV), experts from innovative startups will join us to discuss how their companies are using cutting-edge science to develop the next generation of therapeutics, diagnostics, medical devices, and more. They will also share insights into industry trends and career opportunities, and answer questions from attendees. The events are free and open to the NYU community, and a boxed lunch is provided.
February’s seminar will showcase a NYULH translational program being developed under the auspices of Therapeutics Alliances (TA), the life science accelerator program of Technology Opportunities and Ventures (TOV).
Program: Next-Generation Anti-CSPG4 Biologics to Target Intratumoral Heterogeneity and Therapy Resistance in Melanoma
PIs: Amanda Lund, PhD, Shohei Koide, PhD
The seminar will offer a concise bench-to-translation overview of how NYU Langone and Therapeutics Alliances are advancing biologics targeting resistant melanoma states.
Dr. Lund will describe how melanoma evolves drug-resistant, metastatic, and immune-evasive states that drive disease progression, and how CSPG4 is implicated in these phenotypes. She will outline the therapeutic rationale for targeting CSPG4 to limit regional and systemic spread and enhance responses to combination therapy.
Dr. Koide will highlight the Perlmutter Cancer Center Biologics platform, which uses protein engineering to generate human antibodies and engineered proteins that validate therapeutic concepts. Using the CSPG4 program as a case study, he will summarize anti-CSPG4 antibody development to date and illustrate how close collaboration with disease experts and TOV/TA accelerates drug discovery, both for this project and across other programs.
